Element’s executive team is responsible for the company’s administration, oversight, and corporate governance. Our Management Team are seasoned industry veterans and experts in their respective fields.

Jason Nikish, P.Eng

President

Mr. Nikish has served as President of Element Technical Services Inc. since 2014, having previously held the role of Vice President – Engineering. He brings over 20 years of oilfield services experience with a background spanning engineering, operations, sales, fabrication, and corporate leadership. Prior to joining Element, he spent 1.5 years with Canyon Technical Services Ltd. in an Alliance Engineering role. His career also includes technical and field-based positions with BJ Services (later BJ Energy Solutions), where he worked in both frac and coiled tubing engineering as well as field operations.

Mr. Nikish is a licensed professional engineer with APEGA and holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Regina, along with a Petroleum Engineering diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Brendan Nelson, CA

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Nelson has served as Chief Financial Officer of Element Technical Services Inc. since 2011 and was involved with the company during its inception phase. Mr. Nelson has over 20 years of experience in oil and gas financial management, with a background in auditing, corporate finance, and international operations. Prior to joining Element, he served as Chief Financial Officer of BCH Energy Services, In-Country Director (Brazil) for Canacol Energy Inc., and Controller of BrazAlta Resources Corp. Earlier in his career, Mr. Nelson was a Senior Accountant with Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he worked with numerous oilfield services clients. Since joining Element, he has been responsible for the company’s financial oversight and reporting and played a key role in facilitating its growth, including the design and implementation of the company’s ERP system. Mr. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and is a Chartered Accountant, having earned his designation through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.

Tyler Elgar, P.Eng

Executive Vice President

Mr. Elgar has served as Executive Vice President of Element Technical Services Inc. June 2021. Mr. Elgar has over 20 years of oilfield services experience with a background in engineering, operations, sales, and commercial leadership. Prior to joining Element, he spent 13 years with Calfrac Well Services Ltd. in progressively senior roles within the Canadian Division, including Director, Sales & Marketing; Manager, Sales & Marketing; Manager, Strategic Accounts; and Manager, Engineering. His career also includes technical and field-based roles with BJ Services (later BJ Energy Solutions), where he provided in-house technical support for Shell Canada, as well as early field and drilling experience with Precision Drilling. Mr. Elgar holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and has completed executive and leadership development programs at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Glenna Perraton

Vice President, Finance & Controller

Ms. Perraton joined Element Technical Services in 2016 and was promoted to Vice President of Finance in 2024. With more than 15 years of progressive experience in oil and gas finance, she brings a deep understanding of the financial, operational, and strategic drivers that support performance. Since joining Element, Ms. Perraton has played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s financial infrastructure and governance framework. She oversees corporate finance, financial reporting and internal controls, while partnering closely with operations to ensure financial discipline supports field execution. Ms. Perraton holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary and prior to joining Element, Ms. Perraton held finance roles with the Calgary Flames and later served as Controller at Essential Energy Services. Following Essential’s acquisition by Element in 2023, she was instrumental in supporting the financial integration of the two organizations. Her combined experience across both companies positioned her to lead system alignment, reporting harmonization, and operational integration efforts, ensuring continuity and clarity throughout the transition. Throughout her career, Ms. Perraton has supported executive leadership and board-level reporting, strategic planning initiatives, and cross-functional operational improvements. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, strong analytical approach, and commitment to building high-performing finance teams that partner effectively with operations.

Ryan Birnie

Vice President, Fracturing Operations

Mr. Birnie has served as Vice President of Operations at Element Technical Services Inc. since 2011. He brings over 25 years of oilfield services experience with a background rooted in field operations, technical service delivery, and regional leadership across Southeast Saskatchewan and Western Canada. Prior to joining Element, Mr. Birnie spent nine years with BJ Services as a Fracturing Supervisor, where he developed extensive hands‑on expertise in pressure pumping operations and field execution. From 2007 to 2011, he served with Les Lee Consulting, overseeing operational activity and supporting the growth of regional service capabilities. In recognition of his long‑standing contributions to the industry and the region, Mr. Birnie was named the 2024 Southeast Saskatchewan Oil Person of the Year. Known for his field‑centric leadership style, he maintains a close presence in day‑to‑day operations and resides near the field to remain directly connected to crews, customers, and ongoing activity.

Ben Nowell

Vice President, Coiled Tubing Operations

Mr. Nowell has served as a senior leader within Element Technical Services Inc. since 2016 and brings extensive experience in coil tubing completions and the well service sector. Over his career, he has held a range of operational and leadership roles with both publicly traded and privately held service companies, including Essential Energy Services and Technicoil.

With a background spanning operations, sales, safety oversight, and equipment design, Mr. Nowell played a central role in executing large-scale multi‑well pad completion programs across Canada and the United States. His technical and commercial expertise contributed significantly to Element’s strategic growth initiatives, including his key involvement in the 2023 acquisition of Essential Coil Well Service.
